Okay, so illa had to take some time off from the world this week. He didn’t tell me where he was going–only that it was a matter of national security…and that the fate of the world itself depended on it. Needless to say, he asked me to fill in. This week’s sample is one that I’m not a stranger to– in fact, [illa] a certain producer that will not be named has indeed chopped it up before. It’ll be interesting to hear his new interpretation of the sample along with everyone elses.

Enchantment actually got together in high school in Detroit. Rumor has it that the group entered a radio talent contest winning 500 bucks and a recording contract. This propelled them to more notoriety locally and the group eventually caught the eyes of producer Michael Stokes, who himself had worked with the likes of Eddie Kendricks and Bill Withers. They went on to cut their most successful album, Once Upon a Dream. After years of label hopping, the group would eventually become only supporting characters in the multitude of Motown musicians.
