BeatSession 04|11|11

Original Sample:

Lung Dee Kee Mao (Uncle Dee Is a Drunk) by P. Promdan

Our boy, Nam (@airbornho), sent us this week’s sample which comes from a compilation cd, titled “Thai Pop Spectacular: 1960s-1980s” released by Sublime Frequencies. This label is known for acquiring and exposing obscure music to the masses. Be sure to check out their other compilations.

The Thai pop scene had some diverse musical influence from the international scene: jazz, rock, disco, and in this case, funk. The sample is pretty short and pretty repetitive — challenging to sample, but dope nonetheless. One of these weeks i’ll jump back in the rotation. Works been kicking my ass lately. Hopefully next week!

peace, @illa0804
