Love makes songwriters write absurd things sometimes.  I’m not being cynical.  I’m just saying…

You might recall the time we chopped up the Dynamic Five’s Beautiful Lady (which was an amazing session, btw).  In the write-up, I wrote about the impossible things songwriters write about. For example, the Dynamic Five claimed they’d “swim the deepest sea” and “climb a staircase to the peak of the world”.   I guess saying that you’ll do the impossible is another way of saying there’s nothing you won’t do for her. But sometimes, doing the impossible just isn’t enough.

This week’s sampled artist, the Individuals, take it a step further on their 1976 single, “Together”.  The Chicago natives mix the impossible with a little bit of “that don’t make sense”.  They say they’d “build the world in just one day” [the impossible] but then they go on to say they’ll “swim the highest mountain and climb the deepest sea” [that don’t make sense]. That’s just silly. But i’m not being cynical. Love is cold cool.
